“Barton proposed an iPhone app that could help connect nearby bikers who could ride together and also help explain the benefits of a biked-in commute, calculating not only time and money saved, but carbon saved as well.” – GOOD Magazine, December 2009
Projects
Bike it! is a public advocacy campaign and urban informatics project. Good Magazine and Center for Architecture teamed up to to present GOOD Design NYC a design challenge that links public concerns and leading design agencies. Local Projects was paired with AIA NY. They asked, how can we get more people to ride their bikes? Local Projects proposed an iPhone app that allowed users to track their own cycling stats, counting time, money and calories saved through cycling. But by aggregating this data, the system allows people to self-publish and broadcast those statistics to bike shelter screens, or connect with other commuters.
