The buildings glow with poetry. We created software that lights up the city with the words of New York poets. The POEMobile is a truck that shares the work of local poets by projecting it in multiple languages onto prominent New York buildings. As a poet performs in their native language at the base of the building, the words float above their head, several stories high, translated into the main languages of the city. Created together with City Lore, the POEMobile is touring different areas of the city throughout 2011 under the banner "A white wing brushes the building." The title is adapted from a line by Brooklyn-born poet Martin Espada: “God must be an owl, electricity coursing through the hollow bones, a white wing brushing the building.”
