By mixing narration, cartography and image, Timescapes is more of a piece of interactive theater than filmmaking, allowing visitors to choose the various channels and depth of information that they prefer. For those unfamiliar with the city's history, the narration and video gives a higher level of information and narrative. For those going deeper, the maps offer a wealth of added detail and correlation that leads even the most seasoned New York City Historian to come away learning new things about how this city came to be.
