Facing Fascism examined the lives of the hundreds of New Yorkers who fought and died to protect the Spanish Republic from a rebellion led by General Francisco Franco and backed by Hitler and Mussolini. Local Projects created New York Voices, a twelve-minute film that allows all those involved, from the volunteers to the nurses to those who stayed behind in New York, to tell their stories of idealism, heroism, and disillusionment. The film was directed by Andrea Meller, with footage from films such as The Good Fight.
