Projects / National Building Museum

Local Projects collaborated with the National Building Museum in Washington, D.C. on the film portion of their exhibition "House & Home", open from May 2012 to May 2017. On view is a large-scale film installation titled "Welcome Home", which takes visitors on a virtual tour of the different types of homes that Americans find themselves living in today. These architect-designed living spaces that span economic, social, and geographic lines include a Michael Maltzan apartment building for ex-homeless residents in Los Angeles, a pre-fabricated home designed by Charles Lazor in Callicoon, New York, and an 84 square foot Tumbleweed home in Olympia, Washington. The viewer is given a look into a "day in the life" of these homes and their residents in order to further understand what "home" means to Americans today.
